I buy Valvoline 10w-40 motorcycle oil from Autozone. Its safe for wet clutches and I have never had a problem with it. I change my oil all the time at 3k so I know i have good oil in it. Its cheap per quart from them too.

Is Valvoline's motorcycle oil synthetic?

They say once you put synthetic in do not go back or it can hurt it. If you put synthetic in it I would keep with that.

I've never heard that switching back and forth is a problem, but I'm no expert.

Read this http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo...ables.html#Oil
and this http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo...tml#OilFilters

I think Im' running half/half of Delo/Rotella Syn right now and DEFINITELY using the extra long WalMart Supertech filters.

Fact is change your oil more often if you use cheaper **** and or do trackdays. Most diesel oils or anything without the energy efficient stamp is fine, just get the oil weight recommended for your region.

Now I am not a mechanic by any means but I do question these articles. Why would Honda, the manufacture of these bikes tell us to run 10W-40 but this article (not sure who put it together) tell us not to. "10w-40 oils should not be used in a motorcycle that runs the engine oil through the transmission." I am going to trust Honda over these people.

As for the filters they put Fram over the Honda filter. Once again I have no hard evidence to back this up but I have heard that Fram filters have failed and I have never heard of a Honda filter failing, not saying they never will. For me personally I am going to trust Honda over these 2 articles.
