Default rear suspension reservoir

So I want to paint my rear suspension res. and I am curious if there is anything special about unhooking it. Namely, is it under pressure of some sort....is it only a res and therefore the bike isn't going to sag on me.....I really don't know much if anything about the suspension of a bike so just curious before I de-couple it and end up in a world of hurt!

edited: sorry, i meant suspension res, not the brake res....i was typing in a hurry this morning.... [:-]

If you are refering to the resevoir on the right side, that has nothing to do with the suspension. Like you said it is rear brake. If you remove it and paint it make sure you bleed back brakes when you put it back on. Don't take this the wrong way ( we were all new to bikes at one point), but if you don't know how get help.

You can remove it from the sub frame with no problem. It is filled with gas that is under pressure so I don't think you are able to disconnect it from the rear shock. I think the resvr and shock need to be removed as one piece.

Thats what I would do. Pulling off that whole shock would suc! Let it hang off the subframe...tape it all up and spray away.

my only SLIGHT problem is that i am going to do some trick painting (if i can)

i am going to do a rattle can job and clear it after (if i can)....i want to paint it black and red doing a fade from red to black, sort of like the micron cans....might be a little tricky to do with it hanging off the bike, but i will give it go, i will post pics when i do it...probably won't be for a week or two...
