lock pieces and extras
Hey everybody,

Took my bike apart several months ago to chase an issue, and when I did, while taking the rear seat off the whole locking mechanism just fell apart. Apparently, something had vibrated loose while riding and I hadn't noticed. Anyways, after replacing the fuel pump and removing the BAS the bike is all back together, except for the rear seat lock. I've got a picture of all the pieces I have left over or were stored on my workbench while working on other things. Can anybody post any pics or diagrams of how the whole locking mechanism goes together?

I had mine come apart on a long (for me) ride and spent about 70 miles with my big banana seat shifting back and forth every time I accelerated or braked. When I got home, I had my youngest daughter piece it back together because she is great at spatial relations! Anyway, this link is the best I could come up with - https://www.powersportsdiscount.com/...e30/seat-04-06.

Hope that helps! Oh, and once you get it back together, check everything again after the next couple of rides, just to make sure it's staying together. If not, a very little dab of blue Loctite might be in order...

You've got the same Competition Weeks fender eliminator as i have.

I'll take a pic of my set up and post it up.

I had the same problem with mine all working loose couple of months ago - i just played around till it looked right and hoped it would work lol

and fasten it all up again making sure the locking pin is all the way out - so it catches the seat;-)

Pretty easy - not even a 5min job. But looks like you're missing the spring - if you cant find it - just use one about an inch long to push the locking pin up.

i've outlined the pieces from your photo to show which parts you need:

you're just missing a spring

Thanks Doc, I like detailed explanations myself - so if i have to give them i try and make it nice and clear;-)

Good call on the loctite, i use a longer bolt as the other one went missing when my came apart and i noticed that mine was a little loose when i took it apart to take the pics for argh - so mine is loctited in now;-)
