Rear Brake Pressure

My rear wheel is off and i accidentilly pressed the rear brake and now the brake pads are clamped together. Any way i can release the pressure on them? Yes i'm stupid:D

RE: Rear Brake Pressure

just put something between the brake pads (being careful not to damage the pads) and expand...all you need to do is really push the pads (and thus the pistons) back into the caliper housing....you can do this a number of was...you can try pliers...just make sure to protect the pads...or take the pads off and do it....make sense?

you could take the pads off and push the pistons back in. It's only a matter of pushing the pistons back in. the reservoir level will rise a little in the process.
taking the pads off is easy. check the service manual at stephygee.com

RE: Rear Brake Pressure

another easy way...the way i do it on cars as it is damn near impossible to do by hand on a car....get a c-clamp and put it around the pad and the caliper and tighten it up....as you tighten the clamp will push the piston back in....just remember a couple things...don't push too far, just because you don't need to....and two..if you push far, it might take a few lever pumps until the brakes bite again...essentially they have to be pumped back into position so IF it initially feels squishy, just pump a few times and it should get back to normal...

To remove the brake pads i need to remove the "pad pin cap" it looks like just a flathead screw, but i almost damn near stripped it trying to use a flathead, am i doing this wrong or do i need more force? Thing won't budge.

RE: Rear Brake Pressure

I just stick a screwdriver in between the pads and pry them back open.
