Rear brake pads wear looks strange
 
Hi all, first post here! Newbie mechanic and new rider too! Just removing the wheels to change the tires out when i noticed the brake pads seemed to be worn at a strange angle... also the rear rotor looks to be a bit off? Just to update... I've been informed it could be due to bad calipers? I'm thinking of just replacing rotors/pads/calipers... but before I go and do this job, I was hoping someone could shed some light into this and possibly let me know if there's anything I can do to rule out anything else as the cause?

Your pads show wear of a guide pin not sliding freely through the pad.

Thanks for the reply! I did notice this weird bracket thing fall out as I moved the caliper away from the rotor. It looks like a black square thing.. possibly a rentention clip... could this be what you're talking about? I will take more pics when I get home and look up how to set this guide pin... By the way... in case the part I mentioned is NOT the guide pin... do you know where abouts I would find this? again I'm a huge noob and am still trying to figure this all out! Thanks again demon.

The pads should sit in a groove on the bracket with a metal piece of hardware. The pin is that rod that goes through the holes on the pad. Make sure that the pad slides easily on the pin and bracket. A little brake lube to help them slide is a good idea.

We can close this if you guys want. I believe the rear is fine for now.
