Really weird problem?!

Okay, so for the first time since Novermberish, I took the bike for a ride today! Since November, I have started the bike up about once a week and let it warm up to keep the gas running through it. So when I pull out of my driveway today, I get about 100 yards and the damn thing dies on me. So I pull it home. I start it up on the kickstand in neutral, she runs smooth and perfect. BUT, if I put the kick stand down and leave it in neutral, or any gear in fact, it will die. To put it short, it runs good sideways, dies when it's upright. If anyone is confused, I will make a video. Please, I really need some insight, im mechanically sound when it comes to cars, so im not a total noob to this stuff.

Thanks in advance!

Ok I'm confused when you say this. You said laying it on its kickstand and in neutral or any other gear, it dies...but also starting it on the kickstand and neutral it runs...?

I may be missing the whole point, but the bike has a safety feature built in where if the kickstand is down and if you put it into any gear outside of neutral, it will cut the engine.

Please clarify. :icon_shrug:

lol I may be stupid but I do know that you can't put it in gear with the kickstand down.

Clarification: Runs perfect in neutral ONLY when it's on the kickstand/leaning to the side. The second you put the bike upright, it dies, no matter what gear it's in.

is there a tilt sensor or a bank angle sensor on these?

Yes It's mounted to the back side of your headlight

Oh ****. That might explain everything... The bracket for it broke on my headlight, so I had it just dangling there.

Damnit, I knew it was something simple!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Good luck man, If you do a search on here you can figure out wich wires bypass it

nrmskate 02-13-2011 08:07 PM

Yea, if I mount it and it still gives me problems, ill end up bypassing it. But, it is a security feature, so im gonna leave it hooked up if possible.

Thanks a bunch for your help.
