Re: running heated clothing on the F4i
Was wondering if anyone knew what the stator output was of the F4i and whether it was enough to power heated gear which I understand can be quite a draw on the electrical system.
I ran a heated vest yesterday for hours and didn't have any problems but wondering how close I am getting to F4i's capacity. I have a couple of sport touring bikes (Blackbird, Concours) that handle this easily but since the 4fi is new to me, want to be careful not to overload it. Don't know how much the heated vest I run draws but I can find out. My F4i is pretty much stock electrically with the exception of some aftermarket turn signals the PO installed. Thanks. |
I would be interested to hear if anyone knows this as well. I have ran 2 jacket liners and gloves on my FJR with no issues. I know switching to LEDs and an HID headlight will free up some wattage.

I don't know what the actual capacity of the stator is, but you shouldn't have any problems running 2-3 articles of heated gear.

Run the heated gear then throw a battery charger on when you get home and see if it takes any power. If it needs power your pulling more then the stator can handle. No power = your all good.

I run HIDs, heated vest, and heated gloves, and the heated gear thermostat. Have been doing it for two years, without any issues. The bike sleeps outside, even through winter (no tender), however it is used daily.
