raising the bars
 

Hi I am looking at purchasing an F4i in the spring. I was wondering if any of you have raised the bars and how much you can go before running into cable length and fairing/windscreen issues?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the stockers cant be raised. Some have installed aftermarket risers or upper triples. I suggest if bar height is a big issue that you look into buying a VFR or similar type bike instead of a CBR!

I didn't even know you could do that - the F4i is a pretty mild seat stance anyways. I would probably do as Playful suggested and look into different bikes.

The stockers end up pretty much at the top of the fork and there's nowhere you can really adjust them. You can get risers or helibars or convertibars (adjustable). I think you can probably get an inch up and an inch back with stock lines and with new brake lines or an extension, like 3 up and 1 back. You can get more of course with more modification but the large fairing/screen is also an issue.

I was considering the convertibars at first for long trips, since I was coming from a naked/sport touring bike with a pretty upright position... but in the end I just had to get used to the new position (probably took longer to get used to than someone who starts on a sportbike). The trick is to change positions every once in a while and be super light on the hands. Move around every once in a while. When I get tired of really tucking in, I'll get right up on the tank for a while and that position ends up being pretty upright.

I remember with my old bike I had to tug on the handlebars hard to get the bike to lean, on this bike I barely touch them...so sporting or touring it's all about body position.

I was considering these but I just cant pull the trigger for over a sawbuck..

Well I really want a Triumph Street Triple R. However, it's out of my price range at this point and there are some great deals on the F4i.
It's not a major issue, I'd just really like to do some distance and be comfortable while doing it.

When I first got my bike I had aches and pains all over but mainly my upper neck. Being 45 its just like that :) Over the ensuing months I have found that most of my pain while riding has subsided drastically. I went through a full tank with no issues at all then turned around and came home, all in all over 4 hours virtually pain free and I didnt have the Rocket Pillow on the tank. Basically Im saying that over time the bike becomes more comfortable naturally :)
