if you really care about your bike side protection i think you should go with the extended sliders with a long puck.
personally i wouldnt reccommend that. not to argue but i think it gives more leverage to snap off and rip the motor mounts out

2 of myfriends have race rails on their bikes. one went down at 50 and the slider just ground off. another went down at 80 and the same thing happened. you would think the metal would grip and catch but it doesnt. i have a powers cage on my bike and it's taken a beating. dropped from 12'o clockmore times than i can count with one hand. the cage is finally showing wear. probably gonna get a new one this winter.
Sweet, good to know, it seems the aluminum slider is shaped to just skid basically, I am really thinking about doing the race railz, they seem the best protection and they look really good, and if you are going to cut anyways, hell. I still have the t-rex sliders ready for install, but have been spooked by all the talk of the brackets bending and snapping, they seem super rigid to me...who knows. Maybe just full insurance and ride the **** out of it!!!
