I've got a friend with an 1800cc+ S&S motor in his FXR estimated at around 120 bhp. Never actually raced him but I know that off the line it'sa monster with so much torque. Therefore, I wouldn't rule out that it goes in favour of the harley considering that 1/4 mile is a short distance. Better practice before; you need to put some body weight on the front so that it doesn't pop-up (especially if do the -1 +2) and also put someweight on the rear for grip. On the start line your left foot should be on the peg; proppedagainst and applying a little pressure on the gear shifter so that2nd snicks in quickly when the revs are right. Oh, and keep the bike pointed straight! Let us know how it goes, if you win I'll race my buddy the weekend after.

MAKE SURE YOU USE CLUTCHLESS UPSHIFTS. you dont want to risk missing a gear. if you dont know how to do the clutchless look up some articles all over the internet. its the same for all bikes. Sportrider.com has a pretty good explaination on there. it doesnt harm the bike and it sooooooo much faster of a shift and once you learn it right you will never miss a gear, which is obviously very important when racing.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. If the Harley has stock gearing, just take your basically stock bike to the 1/4 ofhis choice, and then take his 500 bucks. It isn't a knock on his bike, but you are going to have him from the the upper RPM in 1st gear on, with no looking back, except to make sure he doesn't stop, turn and try to run away and keep his 500 bucks.
