Quick Battery Help! (with PIC)
Hey,
I have an 02 F4i. My battery died and I just bought a new one. Installed it and the bike starts once. I try to start it 10 min later, and it won't. What the heck...? When I was replacing the battery I noticed this attached to the terminals: http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/4903/cbr2w.jpg I'm not sure if it was running to anything? What does it go to? Please help. |
That would be for a battery tender. Those are actually pretty nice. If I were you I would put that back on and get yourself a tender for when your not going to ride for a while. Also did you charge your new battery? If not that is probably the reason why it won't start.

Nope. Didn't realize I needed to charge it because I'm a noob. Do I use a trickle charger?
Thanks in advance. |
I'd avoid charging any motorcycle batt at any amp rate over 2.5 amps

You can charge with a normal battery charger, i have have done it many times for motorcycle, jetski, snowmobile, quad, dirtbike batterys which are all like motorcycle batteries. Just make sure to check it frequently and pull it when its charged. My charger has a meter build in to show current battery voltage.

I just took the battery back to the cycle place. They tested it and said it couldn't hold a charge, so they gave me a new one. The guy said to put it on a battery tender over night before starting the bike, so I bought a $40 tender and now it's charging until tomorrow.
Hopefully all goes well tomorrow! |
Sound like a plan man ........good to see you got it squared away :)
