Questions about Sprockets
When ppl change their sprockets to -1/+2and different combos, im just typing one that ive seen before( i dont really understand it that much) i know it gives more low end torque but does it affect gas mileage? and if i were to buy a bike that has been altered in this way what would i have to do to convert it back to stock and how much would it cost?

RE: Questions about Sprockets
Well if you are going for more bottom end then I think your top end is what you sacrifice, meaning that when you are on the freeway (highway) whatever it's gonna rev a little harder. I don't know how severe the effect is ( Not an expert) but I would think the fuel consumption difference is minimal. Changing it back to stock is simple though as long as you know what the stock tooth count thingy is. I changed both my front and rear sprocket about a month or so ago and it was cake. Two sprockets and a brand new RK chain was about $230 AU

RE: Questions about Sprockets
you should do a search, there are tons and tons of threads on this.
If they only changed out the sprockets, it would be fairly cheap to change out, new front and rear sprocket, ~$75 or so. but most people also change out the pitch of the chain from 525 down to a 520. if thats the case, you will also need to change out the chain.~$150 total

RE: Questions about Sprockets
-1 +2 is going to give you a little more torque and the effect on gas mileage shouldn't be noticeable. I would say leave it, it's not worth changing unless you need sprockets already. With that setup your only losing about 10mph off the top end, great trade for more ***** down low. If you are going to change it change everything. You don't want to put a new chain on worn sprockets or an old chain on new sprockets. That will lessen the life of the setup! Keep it adjusted and lubed and they will last a while.

RE: Questions about Sprockets
I agree, save the money and leave it. I changed mine out and it hasn't effected gas mileage that much. How many people really go over 100+ mph everyday anyways. Your low end is gonna be more torque and if it has been changed, I recommend you get a speedohealer, it will correct your speedometer. So when you get pulled over you can tell the cop you knew you were speeding. LOL.
