congradulations and welcome! recommended octane is 87 as far as a quite exhaust stock is going the be the quietest bust yoshimura makes a zyclone street baffle...pretty much every exhaust manuf makes a "street baffle" exhaust whice will bring the volume down.

I have a perfect stock exhaust from an 01. I'll send you a pick tomorrow if you want - you can probably pick on up on ebay pretty cheap too.

You need to know that the "noise" isn't just for having noise. it makes other drivers aware that you are around. HP gain or not a little noise is a good thing.

chances are it's really noisey bc it A) doesn't have a baffle or B) the baffle needs to be replaced. my old EX had no baffle and it was loud as hell, set off car alarms it was so loud. personally i loved it. bike looked like hell but you could sure as **** hear it coming. if you need to replace or put in new packing it's typically less then $20.
