Question on 2001 Honda F4i

Hello everyone. I am new to the bike scene and wanted to get some opinions about a bike that I am looking to purchase. The info is listed below. He is asking 4.5K. Just wanted to know if this price sounds fair.

01 F4i Silver & Black
12,xxx miles
Micron CF slip-on
Front flush mounts
Aria XL Astral helmet
Technic Chicane leather jacket
Technic Chicane leather gloves
Dunlop tires w/ 90% tread

Just had a HUGE tune up done in Oct. $600 worth w/ a receipt to prove it. It included new front/rear brakes, oil/filter, flushed radiator/brake fluid, chain greased, etc.

Its got minor scrapes on the fairings from "dropped in the driveway" by the previous owner. Its never been down by me.

That sounds a little high for a 01. We usually see that price on the 02 and 03 models on here. That helmet and extras might make it worth it, but check out the helmet and make sure it's not damaged.

too high for a 01 with that mileage.
as far as the bolt ons, you should let him know that when you do things like exhaust, etc...it adds very little to the value of the bike.

RE: Question on 2001 Honda F4i

I bought my '02 CBR600F4i with 8K+ miles for 4.5K and it had a full exhaust system instead of just a slip on, and I bought it during summer. So I think the price is too high.

Offer him $4000. That would be a pretty good deal. The bike looks mint, the arai helmets are $500, jackets aren't cheap, a nice 2-300 dollar pipe, etc... That would be a good starter. You get everything you need. Offer him $4000.

Remember, too, you want the 01, not the 02-03. I've read more than once the 01's make more power than the later years, because it was tuned down to boost sales of the RR.

I'll bet you that the helmet is too large for you. Be sure to get one properly fitted. If you were to go on your own, I'll bet you'd pick one that was too big (like that guy probably did). XL heads are not that common.....

I had an XL in hand when a good helmet guy at the dealership caught me and showed me the way it should fit. XL would've been WAY too big for me.

RE: Question on 2001 Honda F4i

Yeah, tru, I myself wear a Medium. I can fit snugly into a small as well, but the medium is more comf, but not too tight. You want a nice snug fitting helmet.

Either way, Arai's in good shape don't go down much in value, so you could sell that off if he were to include it with the bike.

Um, what state are you in? Here in Cali, I bought my '01 F4i for $4.6K in August I think, 14K miles, new rear tire and chain (200 mi or less on it), slip on exhaust with high and low mount, SS lines, threw in the cover & 2 helmuts that are still waiting to be sold (I wear a small). Demand is growing, everyone wants a bike
