Thanks again incognito, from what Ive heard the cam chain tensioner is the major pain in the a$$ with these bikes. That does not bother me but what is a good way to replace this so that it never rattles again? Just wonderng for future reference.

Yeah, you can get an APE manual cam chain tensioner. My bike has a little over 12K on it & I can hear it sometimes. I don't know if I want an APE though; heard of too many horror stories. I'll probably just go with the latest new and improved OEM CCT, which is like what, the 24th one? Lol

This is my second f4i. My first was new in 2001 and now I own a 2006. In between, I owned a CBR954 for 3 years. After putting several miles on it, I went back to the f4i because it's the most comfortable sportbike out there. I sometimes miss the low-end torque of the 954, but the f4i does all things well. Comfortable on longer rides, plenty of power to pass others, great on twisty roads, very nimble, better gas mileage than a 1000cc (40mpg in the city) and it cost less to insure. Even though the f4i is not a focused track bike like the 600RR, it still delivers loads of fun and power on the back roads. I had my choice of any bike to buy and I went back to my old friend the f4i.

OK, I lied; ordered a manual tensioner (lifter) yesterday. The NOISE ~ I can stand it no longer!

Con: doesn't have 1300cc engine.

no really, what's there to complain about? if you've ever owned another motorcycle, the F4i is like a blessing.

the only con is the tensioner

put in an ape correctly (loctite and tightened jam nut) and in my eyes it's the best 600 out
almost rr fast but much more comfy

Depends what you're going to do, really. There are good bikes out for different things.

All around, the F4i is a great bike, and will satisfy just about any itch regarding a street bike (unless you're a squid and need a litre bike to feel important).
