they want to take a look at it and that they have never heard of something like this happen with a chain.

I know we've said this a couple times but DO NOT ride it over there, have it towed on a flat bed or put it in a friends pick up. I'd take the cover off the front sprocket as mentioned and get good pics of it and the whole chain and rear sprocket. Get some pics of the adjusters position as well on each side of the of the swingarm. Hopefully the shop will step up and take care of it, keep us posted.
