Well from what i heard and understand people usually sell their bikes at the end of the riding season (which isnt to far off now for me in ohio anywyas) but i bought my 02 F4i for 3400 with 11,400 miles at the beginning of the season....i think it was an ok deal minus the **** i had to replace like chain sprockets and a new battery which cost me like another $400...i think you could find one for $3,000 but i was looking for that deal for so long and wanted a bike so bad i just kind of said to hell with it illl spend a little more LOL Im in Ohio and i think the prices in houston are a little less competitive Cause i looked almost everywhere and didnt mind a little road trip to get it but i think there are a lot more sportbikes in houston than there are in cincinnati....Just keep in mind insurance, mods, and repairs. but now that i wrote a frickin story for you...to directly answer your question yes i think you could just look everyday and be patient and the right bike will come to you dont rush yourself into a bad deal either i almost did that a few times.

Yea so I think I have found a good deal on an 04 for $3000
I talked to the guy and says it needs a stator and the battery isnt charging so he'll give me a battery charger. What do you guys think, should I stay away or jump on this deal??? Im going to check it out tomorrow. Thanks

Edit: turned out to be no good...

Man just be patient the right bike will come along for you. Don't rush into a something you will regret... There is a lot of bikes out there...Keep searching....If I were you try to search a lot through craigslist..search places near where you live...nothing wrong with a little road trip to pick up your new toy!

i was in your same price range when I was shopping for my bike... i wanted an F4i, but all the ones I saw were in the $3500+ range.

I had realized that I need to look at F4s or even F3s. After searching all over for maybe 4 months (craigslist mostly) I happened to find an '02 F4i that I picked up for $2800. I had to drive 2 hours to get it, but that was half the fun... took out 2 buddys who rode it back for me (I didn't have much riding experience at that point). It was a great feeling to watch the bike behind me and pass me knowing it was mine. I think I got an amazing deal on it- runs great, small scratches here.... the guy just needed some cash and didn't want the bike any more.

If you really want an F4i, wait and find the right one... it might take a bit but they are out there. Also be weary as an F4i in this price range can be one of two things- a great deal, or a bike with problems that the owner wants to dump. Hopefully you'll get the first kind. Good luck.

I don't think 3k is out of the question for an 01-02 at all. I bought my 2005 last month with 10k miles on it here in the Kansas City, MO area - Paid $4,000. I found mine on Craigslist and if you're patient, you'll find what you're looking for. I doubt you'll find it at a dealer, but I know you could find it private (a dealer wanted $5,800 for an 06 F4i with 8k miles, just to give you an idea of their mark-ups). Hope this helps a bit.

my F4 is for sale ;)

yea i look every day, several times, for it. Best deal so far is a 2001 f4i 15xxx miles for 3200. But I think If I wait a bit longer, I might be able to get an even better deal (I hope).

keep an eye out, i got my 01 for a grand but it had a reconstruct title and needed a battery. after checking it out there was no frame damage and has done me well, just time to put her up til next season... it's already snowing up here in the AK
