I'm sure glad I'm not a salesperson, too. What kind of snake would ask $5500 for a bike in that condition?

This isn't a retail sale, though, it's a private party sale. Retail prices are always astronomical. What's the worst that could happen if you offer $4000? Does the seller assassinate your family?

In great shape, that's probably a $4500 bike. But it's not in great shape - it needs $500 of parts/labor (since the buyer claims he won't be doing the work himself). So you offer $4000. Simple math.

I understand that prices here in Florida and often in Cali are often lower due to the number of bikes available and the length of the riding season.

I challenge you to go find a great condition '06 with around 3000 miles on it for less than 5.

Pretty close @ 5k miles:
Tastefully modded, showroom condition, no rust anywhere, no parts to replace or repair
$5200 and still can't sell it. Might have to let it go for $5k with a $480 exhaust - so I'd be stretching the truth a little to say it's a ~$4500 bike.

Here's what $5400 obo gets you, a 2006 with 54 on the odo and a warranty.

the last bike there has probably been dropped from the looks of the side fairing
since it's black stock with blue stickers and the stator looks like it's scratched

anyway, 5500 for any F4i regardless of condition and mileage is way too much
i got mine new for $1200 more than that 2 years ago

i'd say 4k is reasonable

oh and i do service at a honda dealer and just cleaning up the rust (assuming the tubes aren't pitted) and changing fluids would add up to nearly $500
