Default Power Commander needed?

'05 F4i with a Jardine RT-One slipon, race baffle.

Is a Power Commander needed, or will it make a difference?

Well, how does one truly know if you need it? I guess if it ran like **** that would be a clue... hehe

But seriously, the manual and the rep at Jardine said that with that slipon you do not need to remap the EFI. However, I was reading a review last night of a Yosh slipon where you did get more power from it, about 4HP on top, but with the power commander you got a little extra mid-range power. Top end, it was about the same gain for the stock ECU as opposed to their power commander type box, but midrange had about 2 more HP at 60% throttle.

I guess that if there is a tangible benefit, I am trying to see just how much so that I can try and justify the cost. I know that if I ever go with a high-flow K&N filter, that a power commander will be necessary.

Anyone know of a good site that shows various slipon performance with and without power commanders?

Cant help you out much but I have been wondering the same thing if it is worth putting a commander on or not. I'm currently running a yosh and k&n and havent noticed any problems these two together gave my bike a ton of power. My buddy is running a jardine and k&n and is extremely happy with his power both our bikes are 02 f4I

Well, it appears that I do not need it now, but it certainly would give me a bump in performance, and being that I do intend to add a K&N filter, I would be needing one at that point anyway. I checked at Dynojet's website, and the map for the Jardine pipe with the stock filter is the same map for the K&N. So Pipecity is going to ship me a new Power Commander with the proper map already installed for $265, and I will add the new filter later...
