Default power commander and cut exhaust...

I have an 01 with a power commander III, a yosh rs-3 pipe, and a K&n filter on my bike and I currently use one of the default maps on my power commander. The map I use is for a rs-3 and a stock air filter, but i figured it was close enough, and as you guys know, custom maps can be expensive. With that being said, I really want to cut my exhaust down (with the help of the sticky on the forum of course) and Im wondering if it will screw up my fuel mapping at all, or at least significantly. Will I need a custom map for sure afterwards? or will the one I use be sufficient?

It will mess with the optimal A/F depending how much u cut. Only a trip to the dyno will tell u that unless u have a wideband o2 sensor and data logging set up. I was going to cut my can after mine was dyno tuned but decided not to since I didn't want to get the bike retuned.

I did mine but haven't been back to the dyno since. I will tell you that the before tune and the after tune only gave me about 2hp so it's not that big of a deal, but the smoothness of the power was changed It was no longer jerky for on off throttle.

Oh yeah, I'm all for the custom maps, believe me, and I will get mine done one day, I'm just asking if the cut exhaust is going to throw my current map off any.

And thanks xtreme, I might hold off on cutting it then

My point didn't come across in my last post.

It will change it but since the gains are minimal to begin with I don't think it will be enough to notice.
