Default Potential purchase... Should I avoid this Bike?

I want to go look at this bike in person, but after some research - the work done to it seems like it may sound nice but not be a smart idea... I am not looking for some custom ride, just one in my price range - but this is a nice looking bike - here is the ad text :

"2002 HONDA CBR 600F4I, This F4i is definetly one of a kind. With '05 600rr front forks and brakes, an RC51 front wheel and a 900rr rear wheel, fiberglass fairings and a solo tail with clear alternatives tail light and fender eleminator all custom painted satin black with gloss black and gold decals. The bike also has carbon fiber front fender and rear hugger and a carbon fiber Micron high mount exhaust (not pictured but brand new) a Barnett carbon/kevlar clutch and a power comander tuned to the exhaust. I bought this bike after a guy droped it and messed up the fairings, I rebuilt and customized it to sell. The bike has a clean title. I used to work at a Suzuki dealership and had our head tech look it over, he has ridden it and said it is in perfect running order. If you are interested, give me a call or shoot me an email me $3500"

I am afraid the 600rr forks weren't properly done.. he said it wont turn all the way but it doesn't affect ride-ability.. I know some people here have done the swap.. Is there risk in this? I don't have the cash to buy a broken bike... So any help is appreciated...

jacked up geometry...

if you want to ride to show and tell, etc...great bike...

if you want to hit up twists and track, POS...

i'd stay away since mutant bikes usually = salvage POS.

i think it looks nice, but you can't trust anyone's work but your own. i would want to look it over myself and ride it before making a decision.

geometry can always be changed to work for a particular rider. look at the sv650 crowd...

Just cause the guy worked at a Suzuki dealership don't mean anything. He could have been the flunky that mopped the floor. I would stay away from it. If it's that great he wouldn't be sellin it. Just my opinion.

I think that is a smart move. The guy may be a mad genious...or he could be a complete moron. Not worth the risks...

You couldn't be more correct. I wish I had a dollar for all the "custom show trucks" I've seen that look like a drunk 3 year old welded some scrap metal together. There is no way I'd trust my life on some thing custom fabbed that I'm going to take to high speeds. custom fabbed rock buggy sure but motorcycle... HELLS NO

I think the level of disdain in this forum for new ideas is a little disappointing. Front end swaps happen everywhere, with many different bikes. like i mentioned above, sv650 race bikes have been using GSXR front ends from not 1, but every generation of GSXR's since the late 90's. everyone here would frown upon it and be content to modify the existing damper rods and live with a subpar suspension.

also, it's not as if the F4i is honda's "best foot forward" anymore. Yes, the bike is faster than 99.9% of us, but changing things to make our bikes more suitable to our riding styles is not a bad thing. for some people, it's adding a set of stomp grips, for others it's adding a wheelie sprocket. "hacking up" an F4i isn't so much of a crime like it would be to hack up a 1098R because you think you can design a better bike than ducati can. by some people's logic, adding an elka rear or using non-oem tires would be some sort of travesty and an affront to honda engineers...it's not.

FWIW, if i wanted to dump more money into a dead chassis like the F4i, i would do all sorts of dumb stuff to it. as it stands i'm thinking about doing enough dumb stuff to it.
