Default Poor performance 2001 F4i

I was out riding today, and it felt like my bike had to get to higher rpm's just get up to speeds it use to get to at lower rpm's. I did have a scorpion slipon, then changed it out to a devil high mount. I have only driven about 75-100miles with the new(bought it used) devil pipe. My question is does the ecu automatically adjust to the change? Is it running kinda shaky because it hasnt adjusted yet? please any feedback would be appreciated, TIA Mark

No it doesnt change on its own, you need a powercommander and a high mount has more bends in it so its going to constrict the air flow even more.

Yes the ECU will adjust. Just not to the extremes of being perfect. Thats why when you add a power commander it will smooth out things alot. The bike will run with fine out it, but will feel alot better with it. A power commander will aid the ECU with air & fuel to level things out where they should be. That why when you don't have a power commander things feel choppy, because the stock ECU is trying to adjust more than it can to match the high flowing exhaust.

As in the exhausts. The devil is a much more free flowing exhaust then the Scorpion. The baffles in both exhaust are way different. The devil frees up more air. Being a high mount with two bends in the mid pipe will not restrict the air flow at all.

Who knows maybe you just got some bad gas.............. lol.

Too funny! But that might not be far from the truth.

Is the bike still running like $hit? If so, there are a couple things you can try. Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes or so and that will reset the ECU for sure - just in case it's having difficulty adjusting on the fly. I had to do that to with my Mustang when I put on the K&N and Flowmasters. Also, in case you had "bad gas" I just tried a fuel additive that helps clean injectors (and then some) called Sea Foam. You only need ONE OUNCE PER GALLON OF GAS so don't over-do it. Do a search on Yahoo or Google to find some reviews on Sea Foam if you're skeptical. It works pretty good as far as I'm concerned.

If it still doesn't work, start looking at something else besides the exhaust and fuel system. Check the plugs and air filter too.

Or throw some Beano in the tank and get rid of that bad gas!!
