Poor Mileage

I poked around my bike and found there's no O2 sensor. Seems to run fine, save for a weird loping idle after I've ridden for a while - which periodically smooths out, and I don't have any crazy rich smell of gas, but that's hard to tell with the hindle pipe.

I'm getting maybe 250km out of a tank, which seems a tad bit low compared to my old FZ6. What are most of you guys getting? Do you know if the O2 sensor or fuel pressure regulator play a big role in this? I feel like I should be getting closer to 350 or so with conservative riding.

Thanks in advance!

What is that for miles? 130-150miles before the reserve light comes on is average.

250 km = 155 miles. JeeWiz, dont you have a converter on your phone? haha

Hmm... Maybe I'm not all that far off, in that case. I'll monitor it a bit over the coming weeks and see.

Thanks guys.

I don't allow my phone to connect to the internet, so no lol.

I took a ride to the NorthWest 200 road races last Saturday. It had just gone into reserve and I filled up with just over 13 litres of fuel, this did me 146 miles (was in traffic for quite some time leaving Portrush) which is almost bang on 50 MPG. So yeah, a full tank before reserve will get you about 150 miles which I suppose could be better, but at least it is economical.

edit: By the way, my O2 sensor has also been removed (if that is the one which plugs into the exhaust pipe end can). I believe to get around this there has to be a resistor placed across the bare wires to trick the ECU. I read somewhere this makes the bike run slightly richer at the times when the o2 sensor would normally cause it to run lean.

I get 120mi until reserve comes on. It's really bad gas mileage. I've calculated it to be about 36mpg.
Not to threadjack, but if I have slipon and K&N air filter, could this be the reason for bad mpg?

Just realised i'm using UK gallons which are 4.54 litres. A U.S gallon is 3.8 litres so 36 MPG in USA would be around 45 MPG in UK, which is pretty good for any performance engine in my opinion. I think it's more of a small tank issue rather than bad fuel economy. Still, it would be nice to get 500 miles out of a few gallons :P

Its a 5gallon tank, the reserve light comes on way early on every F4i I've seen. I've ridden 50miles past my reserve gauge showing I'm completely empty and still didn't put 5gal in.

Phew! Good to know in case I ever get stuck between filling stations. I've never ridden it down past two bars in case I stranded myself :P
