I've been working on my 600rr conversion and i wanted to chrome the swingarm but that adds weight so i decided to polish it.im going to polish it 2 more times and then por15 topcoat clear. then the cast will be painted with a large flake (.064"!!) and candy blue (im painting my whole bikeover to). so heres the pics on the swingarm.

So what's the procedure for polishing it like that? Haven't polished metal to look chrome-like like that and don't even know what materials/tools you used.

yeah you can polish the cast but i didnt want to, its actually easier than polishing the part i did!!! the anodize coating that looks like brush aluminum with clear is so hard. you have to start with 100 grit and would eat those up like it had the munchies, lol. but i didnt wanna do the cast for one you dont see any of that part and two i wanted to paint it the color that might bike will be. i wanted a 2 tone swingarm cuz i havent seen any and it'll look nasty. it didnt take long the longest part is breaking threw the electoplated anodize. it took only 3 days working a hour or so each day except the last it took about two because i polished it also. the key to get a mirror finish is to go threw all the major grits to 2000 grit. if you stop at 1000 it dont look as mirror and theres 1000 grit scratches in it. mine is done with 2000 grit and if i wipe it with T.P. or a towel after its polished more than twice it starts scratching the aluminum, thats how smooth and mirror-like it is. when its done in winter the wheels will be polished, have a 600rr subframe and tail also with the hotbodies undertail exhaust system, 600rr swingarm , and 929rr front inverted forks and clip ons. maybe im going to fit 600rr plastics on to. I'll post pics during all this.

So did you convert from the F4i swingarm to this one? If so, what else do you need? I thought the rear suspensions were totally different...

I have converted my F4 tail section and front end to the F4i style, and I would like to do this as the RR swingarm looks way better.

Thanks
