where should I check the grounds at first? (sorry if that sounds stupid) every things open rite now I have all the fairings and tank off (painting) ,so now would be the best time for me to get it right. Also when I was replacing the blown fuses I noticed that the previous owner had wrong fuses in there. most of them were bigger not the headlight fuse tho. But if there are to big of fuses in wrong areas could that through other things off?? (I've already pulled them out to get new ones tomorrow)

I would start with what you altered. If you can solder and shrink wrap instead of twisting and taping. It takes a minute longer but lasts longer and is a much stronger /cleaner /professional / more reliable connection. Its worth it to learn too. But yea start with the headlight wiring harness trace the green /black wires and look for exposed wires, corrosion. Than check the rest of the wires for the same thing if the exposed wires are touching the frame or the grounds than that might be the cause for the blown fuse.
