Performance Parts

what type of performance parts can you buy to put in the motor? (camshaft, valve spring, lifter, etc.) I want a little more performance but nothing major. Has anyone does these types of changes? and where do i go about getting the parts?

Thanks!

I'm going to have my camshafts sent to web racing camshafts in the winter for a regrind for a higher lift, i'm planning on also having the head decked a bit along with a 5 angle valve job with a port and polish. I'm going to get a factory pro ignition advancer to go along with the rest of the mods too.

Buy a 750.

Two things bother me about this...For the money you're gonna spend, why not just get a litre bike...And if you're gonna add a bunch of power, get ready to snap that 520 chain.

I can't afford a 1000 cc bike man, 2400 dollars per year for insurance for a 19 year old is pretty rough. And I doubt you will snap that chain.

^^^ theres your answer to the 1000/750 bikes. Also, i doubt i will snap the 520 chain, it's not gonna be stupid fast, just some perfomance upgrades to the motor. Any other advice. I really don't want to have to send my motor out to have it bored over, just some slightly larger cams (which in turn forces me to buy valve springs and lifters and things like that) and any other modification that can be done to the stock size of the motor. Any more ideas?? thanks so far for the responses guys/girls....

You could go with JE or wiseco high compression pistons. However I can't tell you if you would want to go with a new set of rods for that set up, especially if you plan on doing the top end as well. I just want to get the compression up and milk as much power out of it as I can without going into the bottom end.

you can try the HRC adjustable cam gears to get a few more ponies. Have you added a full exhaust and a PCII and had it dynoed n tuned with a custom map?

you'd be surprised how much you can gain from a port n polish job on the head too.

I was just thinking about getting some higher compression pistons and whatever else that i could do to get more out of the motor without boring it over any. I will look at that HRC kit and see what i think, i never thought of that. What exactly do they do? I do have a PCIII and an ignition module with a midpipe and slip-on. I have not had it dyno tuned yet, but i was just gonna do it when i got some motor work done, seeing as it is 250 bucks at the place im gonna have do it.

thanks for the comments and advice, very useful!! Keep it coming!

Try and get headers as well, you will shed weight and gain a couple ponies. Combined with doing the top end the bike should scream once its been tuned.
