PAIR removal
 

Just finished removing the PAIR system yesterday and installed some Driven block off plates. It doesn't do much, like shed a 1lb or 2, but the popping from decelerating is gone. also, this could be a placebo affect, but throttle feels smoother through the low rpms.

if you guys just want a mod to add to the bike and have run out of options, i suggest doing this mod. it's cheap, relatively easy to do, and an easy way to tinker with the bike and learn.

you won't gain much or hurt anything if you try this out.

most stunters do the PAIR mod/klean air mod, but i just chose to do the block offs and removal.

if you dont know what he's talkin about all together then ill explain....theres 3 tubes coming off the valve cover and they need to be t'd back into the valve cover

it frees up some hp and you lose the excess weight of the stock stuff which isnt much...definately a mod that should be done:icon_wink:

Not hard to do. Doesn't harm anything (may turn on your FI light though? can someone verify?), Easy to do if you know how to tear your bike down past the fuel tank. Worth doing if you work on your bike alot or if your bike pops on decel. Needed are basic tools

Removing the PAIR will not cause the FI light to turn on. Also, NO hp, or performance is gained from this mod even though many think there are gains to be had. The only reason I did this mod was to get a more accurate air/fuel reading before I had my dyno tune done. With the PAIR sytem on the bike, it allows unspent exhaust back into the airbox for cleaner emisions, resulting in a leaner reading on the exhaust sniffer. I think I said that right. Its been a while since I researched it.

the PAIR system was designed for emissions regulation. removing it does no harm to the bike. some say the the PAIR mod is better than doing the PAIR removal. most stunters do the mod because it eliminates the chance of hydrolock.

regardless, everyone is pretty much right about the "benefits." every good dyno shop would disable the PAIR system before tuning. you won't have any popping when releasing the throttle. you take a pound or two off the bike, if you care for that sorta thing. and i found that the general location is less messy, making it easier to check the your plugs.

i bought my block off plates off of motomummy, grabbed my sockets and screwdrivers, and went at it for an hour or two. easy job.
now the PAIR mod is even cheaper but i didn't go that route.

ok so you think unspent exhaust gases in the airbox doesnt hurt the hp? The bike wants and needs clean air. It might not be much but it does help.
