Overheating issues
 

Took about an hour ride today and noticed my bike is overheating at redlights. Its running up from 178F to like 225F at one red light and the fan didnt kick on.

I know it could either be a blown fuse, bad relay or the fan is just shot.

How do i go about getting to the fuses on a 2002 f4i ??

Going to the Honda dealership later to get a service manual but figured i would get some heads up on what and how to check the relay or fan.

220-225 is normal temp at a stand still. Overheating on the f4i is 230 and up.

Fuses are under the seat.

ok thanks was just worried, my F4 never got that hot. Got up to 225F and the fan never kicked on thought donw know if its normal or not. Next time i'll wait and see what happens maybe the fan kicks on at 226F.

My fan won't kick on until 227. Even then it will get up to about 235 at a red. I would be worried at anything above that.

You could always install an XS Boost fan control also if your too worried.

I was just going to say that. Nothing to worry about. Just makes my legs uncomfortable.

Was just worried that it was shooting up so fast, would get it down to like 178F and sit at a redlight for a few minutes and it would be up to 220's before i knew it. Lol had me worried at the time, when it got up to 225F i would kill the bike til the light turned green.

Going to change the oil friday, the guy who had it before me prolly never changed it in the 6 yrs he had it. He only put 172 miles on it in 6 years. Also going to try out some of that ice antifreeze they sale at auto zone. Down here in louisiana it aint nothing to see 105 degree summers. Still need to grease the chain as well.

All in all i only got a few things i wanna do to it. Sand down the fairing were it was laid over, tank pad on top and sides with stomp grips, new battery so my seat will fit correctly and a trim ring for the triple tree. O and some of those wheel sticker things.

^Welcome to the right place. Even though it's a "CBR" forum, it's really an f4i. Because our active thread views are almost always more than double ANY other.

Lucky being down south, up in Chicagoland it's a nice and warm 30 degrees today. I can't even put my rim tape on either because it's not warm enough.

Lol dont feel bad even down here in the heart of louisiana it supposed to be 33F for the high this tuesday. But i should be able to start riding daily by the end of this month.

Took it to work last night and about froze. Luckily my boss is cool and lets me park it inside the warehouse so i dont have to let it warm up too long before i head home.

You could also do the clean air mod. It really helped mine from shooting up to fast while sitting in traffic or at red lights. It's a super easy and super cheap mod as well.
