Default Which one??

I"m going to be buying a bike sometime this week. Financing has come thru and everything is a go. I have roughly $5500 to spend and am undecided between 2-3 different bikes.

This is what I"m looking at

1) 1997 ninja 600R 1700 miles $3800 Out the door.

2) 1997 CBR 600R?? (The cheaper model) 12k miles $4200

3)1990 Yamaha FZR 600 20K miles $1800... (low/high retail is $1050-$1400...I offered him $1400 and he turned it down. No accessories or aftermarket parts and body is in "fair" condition at best. No cracks or breaks, just really scratched up-It is 16 years old after all)

4) 2004 CBR F4I $5900 2000 miles Link provided below

Let me say I am an inexperienced rider. I have probably 10 miles total experience on a buddies 2001 Katana. I have found some REALLY good deals locally on some gsxr 750s but feel that's just to much to start with even thought the prices on the 750's are CHEAPER than the 600's apples to apples.

My plan is to get a bike drive it around the neighborhood for a week or two, get my license, then take the riders course.

From what I've read elsewhere people say the CBR 600 is a great beginners bike, but reading thru this forum people seem to say it's not for beginners.

It's kind of retarded to ask for opinions in an obviously biased forum, so I guess this question is more for the people who have riden different 600 brands of sportsbike and what their opinion on each is. Of course cbr only riders are welcome to post as well. Thanks for any help.

Also when looking at book do I look at cbr600f4 or cbr600f44? It's an F4I and it gives me 3 choices. I know it's not the RR.

Here's a link

well before you buy a bike i would reccomend getting the msf course first, not "riding around your neighborhood" then waiting a couple weeks to get the msf, before you buy a bike get the license. i wouldnt say the 04fi4 is a bad choice for a beginers - although me personally i would say its a little to "new" since its your first bike there will always be time to upgrade i would go with something older so you can learn on it and put miles down for experience. i would prolly go with 2) 1997 CBR 600R?? (The cheaper model) 12k miles $4200 but you can get it way cheaper than 4200.

thanks for the reply. I'm not to sure why, maybe gas prices, but everything in the 600 series is selling for way over book. I can find a 750 or 1000 for the same price, same mileage, same year, same bike (I.E. zx6r and zx10R) as a 600 right now around here.

Maybe I'll search a little longer.

my first bike with no riding experience is an 04 f4i, just like the one you wanna buy...and i live in missouri, haha....anyway, the f4i is a great beginner bike because of the light weight, maneuverability, and hondas are more forgiving than say a gixxer or r6. the truth is that there are bikes out there for everyone. some want speed and will sacrifice comfort. Some want comfort as a daily driver, and some want both. the f4i is a very comfortable bike. It has been said to be 2 different bikes: a normal bike to cruise around and learn on, but after you hit above 9,000rpms, it turns into a beast. Just be responsible and respectful of the power, and you will learn just fine. good luck with the decision. PS: for a price comparison... i got my bike in mint condition with 3300 miles on it for $5700. also had a power commander and exhaust. This is a very good deal...and the ebay bike looks like a good deal too.
