Oil Light on after fluid change?

Hey guys.

Did an oil change on the wife's F4i (yes its not mine anymore). Used the same 4t oil I've used for the past 14k miles.

This time, after firing up the bike, the oil light comes on and flashes. It does this until the bike is over 4k RPMs. Riding down the road the light will go off but when the motor drops to lower RPMs the oil light comes back on.

When I did the change this past time, we added a little too much oil. We drained some back out and have been checking the levels, but just wasn't sure if too much oil would trigger the oil light. All of my manuals only say its for oil pressure.

I've read elsewhere that the flashing oil light is a code for an engine/electrical problem, similar to a check engine light coming on in a car. If it's flashing a pattern then you can research to see what that pattern means. In a car, if your oil light comes on, your engine has probably already been damaged, but on these bikes it seems to serve as a fault code as well. But if I were you, if it comes on solid and stays solid while riding, I would shut the bike off immediately until you figure out the problem.

Solid means its a problem, flashing means its a big problem. Hopefully you didn't do major damage by running it down the road and revving it with this problem. Its either an oil pump failure or a oil pressure sensor failure.
