Oil leak
 

greeting everybody.

I have spent plenty of time researching online on for some ideas or trying to see if anybody has had the same issue. I have found a couple things online, but still having localized the issue. I am turning to you guys for help. I have a 2004 cbr600 f4i with 16k miles on it. It is currently leaking oil from the left side on bike. more specifically, behind and above the water pump. oil works it way down to the oil pan and onto the exhaust, however due to limited space I am having a hard time identifying where it is coming from. I see oil build up around the water pump and it surround areas. I also took apart the entire intake system to get to the CCT, everything is good there. Since I took intake manifold off, I noticed that the oil leak is starting from the top, but I have no idea where. I will post some picture. I am turning to you guys from so help and guidance.

Hard to tell by those pictures. The speed sensor is sealed by an o ring. If you have doubts about it. Replace the seal. Any auto parts store should be able to match one up for you.

How does the valve cover and cylinder head gasket look?

There should be a bolt plug with a seal. It's put in after its installed and the holding tool is pulled out.

Just cos it's making an appearance from behind the water pump, doesn't mean that's the source.

Oil will run down, due to gravity, but it will also get blown about as you ride.

Valve cover seals are a very common source of oil seepage.

well great, the bolt to the CCT is completely missing. Hawkwind2016, yes in understand that, I cleaned that area completely and it is clean, ever after running for several mins. is there anything else near the CCT that is can a leak oil. I will re take in The intake off and see if I can get a better picture and check back in here.

fortunately for me, the local motorsport start had the bolt and washer needed for the CCT. However, I am concerned about it. do I need to apply any kind of thread locker or maybe some kind of sealant on the washer?

No. The washer is a sealing type, or should be.
No thread lock either. Just make sure it's tightened to spec.

well eveything is back together. time for a test ride!
