Oil change without removing fairings??
 

So I was planning on an oil change today and have always removed the fairings in the past.
Whats the trick to doing it w/o removing the fairings?
Do I just tinfoil the headers and inside of the fairings and make a path for the oil from the filter to drip down?

i use a pile of rags under the filter to try to catch most of it.

I've tried it twice now w/ leaving the fairing on and had no luck not making a mess out of everything.

btw, a trash can lid makes a great low profile drain pan if youre not using a stand.

Did it and it worked perfect, I wrapped the headers with tinfoil and put a layer of tinfoil on the belly pan and made a path for it to drip out and into the drain pan.

Worked perfect not a drop of oil where I didn't want one.

lol in 18 oil changes on my bike I have never once removed the fairings or foiled anything. When you remove the oil filter a little oil drips on the header and bottem fairing. A rag cleans everything up quickly and once the engine is running the headers burn off any residue. After 50,000+ miles I still don't have any burnt residue left on em either.

Less then 5 mins of prep time while the bike warms up and not a drop to clean up.
I will be doing it the same way next time for sure.

I just use my Might Vac and suck the oil out of the bike and then put something underneath the filter. After I used the mighty vac the first time I opened my oil drain plug and it just slowly dripped so I know that it get's all the oil. I haven't used the drain plug on my car in 2 years because of that thing.
