Synthetic Oil is A Bad Idea in any bike with a wet clutch
WIVE'S TALE BULL **** COMING FROM PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT! DO NO EVER BELIEVE THAT. EVER!

Snyth motor oils, for simplicity's sake, are no more "slippery" then a good conventional oil, what they do offer is inreased drain intervals due to be more stable at high temps and also have the abilty to work at lower temps. IE, Viscosity breakdown is slower in a synth...that is why they are better in aVERY SIMPLE way of explaining it.

yes, 10-40, 10-50, 15-50, etc...just as long as it isn't energy conserving oil.

just go to walmart and get some 15/50 mobil 1 and you're done!

wow... after reading that long as MCN article, i'm very impressed. this aint no regular repeated "oil thread" (or maybe it still is but haven't searched hard enough). i actually learned something... basically Automotive Mobil 1 Synthetic is still beneficial for your bike and there is no such thing as a motorcycle specific oil and that's just an advertising/marketing hype. it all comes down to viscosity retention which had been shown that Automotive Mobil 1 Synthetic proves those old motorcycle tall tales wrong and the oil industry has improved.

thanx TBFGhost
Lol, just noticed this was the post I posted that artical in....and your welcome....I am trying to bring information to this forum backed up by other sources and not just my own word.

Here is a good link about a comparison between motorcycle specific oils. Granted, this was hosted on the AMSOil site so take that how you will.

I have to say that the three pages of this topic has actually been amusing. We are talking about changing oil, something that everyone of us has to do, and somehow we cant come up with a solution that we can all agree on. Its funny how wide spread the opinions are on this, as far as synthetic or not, and motorcycle or traditional. Im actually glad I have been reading this, I am going to change my oil this saturday and I think I am going to try the Mobil 1 full synthetic, suggested by ghost and tahoe. BTW, how long have you two been using the mobil1 in your bikes?

So tahoe/ghost,your saying 15-50 Mobil 1 full synthetic is the way to go? If walmart doesnt have the 15-50, then go with 10-50?
