Off timing symptoms?
I put together my bike after a valve adjustement and I am wondering if I would be able to tell at idle if I have the timing a tooth off or whatever. Will i be able to tell under load? The idle hangs a bit and was high, but i still need to get my carb sticks and sync the TB's. It seemed bad on monday when I had it running, but after I plugged the sensors in for the MAP and the airbox one it seemed better.
I though that I read you should sync with the airbox off? Is that just for some models like the 900's where things are harder to get to? I think I can reach everything on mine with it on. I havnt installed the airbox yet, so ill probably do that today |
Hmmm....I think the sign that you've got the valve timing off is a bunch of bent valves. I don't think there's enough clearnance between piston and valve to accomodate a slipped tooth.
Anybody else? How were the clearances, by the way> Did they need adjustment? |
Yeah I re ahimmed then all. Intakes were mostly good. Exhausts all at about .008 sae.
