Noob Question: Where's the Fuel Filter?

Looked through the manual and over the bike and for some strange reason I can't find a reference to the fuel filter. I've just about completed all my baseline maintenance on the bike and this one of my last "to do" items. TIA

inside the tank, mounted on the fuel pump module.

Good recent thread with a nice pic of it for you.

julss, thanks for the link. After looking at the construction of the filter, I would assume that this is not considered a general maintenance/replacement item? It's more like a pull it apart, clean, and reassemble it when you've got fuel supply issues or you've got the tank off for some reason? tks

your filter is a metal can mounted with the pump. even if yours has the rats nest of steel, it still has a filter. you cant clean it, and its highly recommended that you replace it from time to time. i remember that thread, and if you look in the picture, you can see the filter mounted there. check out this link...#10 is the filter.

Looked at the parts diagram (thanks) and reviewed the fuel pump section in the manual. Now I understand. Looks like a good project to combine with changing the spark plugs.
