Default No more expensive undertails! DIY

I found some stuff online tonight and started thinking which led to me finding the below site. ABS sheet is apparently really cheap and the sizes this one place sells are large enough to screw up and start over making a new one. If I had thought about it and wasn't about to blow my load trying to get my bike like I wanted I would have made my own hotbodies duplicate undertail last summer. Way back in 08.

Sheets of ABS are only $30. I read up on all the ways to bond plastics (other than glue) and most seemed a little too involved to ever do in your garage. The one exception was the classic solvent welding like is done with ABS and PVC pipe. Apparently there is a high dollar type of solvent better than what you get off the shelf at the hardware store. Its called doped solvent and it has what I guess are tiny bits of ABS in it to aid in creating a bond.
