No Brake lights, Brand new to the bike world, PLEASE HELP

hey guys.. brand new here.. 1st post..

I finally sacked up and bought a bike after pondering about it for the last 2 years..

2001 600 F4i Red/Black... 24K.. got a great deal on it

So far.. mods that i know of, Steel brake lines, frame sliders, bar ends, Jardine slip-on, front flush mount turn signals, hot bodies undertail.. and thats where my problem starts..

Everything on the bike works perfect except for the brake lights.. the turn signals work, tail lights.. all that good stuff.. but the lights dont light up w/ either the hand brake nor the foot brake... i got out the volt meter and tested out the connections, i'm not getting any readings when i apply the brakes.. i checked the fuse box under the seat.. all fuses are good.. is it possible the brake switch on the handle bars and the foot brake switch are both not working??? any ideas? I really need to fix this so i can get out and ride.. i'm itching big time to get out on the road..

Last thing is.. is there supposed to be a gas gauge on my LED where the speed is ?? i thought there was.. maybe i'm wrong.. please help thanks in advance

This may be a dumb question, but are you sure the bulbs aren't burnt out? Checked for conductivity? If they're good, then I'd check for breaks in the wire next.

As for the fuel gauge, it only appears when you reach the reserve level in the tank, and then the bars deplete until it reaches zero.

Yea checked it with the volt meter on the connections under the rear seat I'm not getting any voltage to the brake lights at all I get about 8.25 for the tail lights and the turn signals light up fine when I switch to the green/yellow wire and apply either brake no change in voltage that's y I was wondering if the brake switch can go bad? The rest of the lights work as they should I don't have a huge problem it's prob something so simple that when I figure it out Im gonna feel like a retard

I figured it out.. w/ some tinkering.. the foot brake switch had to be adjusted.. and one of the connectors for the front brake was not connected.. all is fixed and adjusted correctly.. i knew it would be something small and dumb like that..
