newbie please help 2001 f4i throttle problem

when I wanna rip on the throttle sometimes the power will cut off and then come back, like its choking or something, and on long rides when remain on a certain speed it will do the same constantly power cutting off and then coming back, could it be some electrical problem? And oh yeah the bike is stock except I bought it with no muffler so i am running a straight pipe right now.

get rid of the straight pipe and see if that makes a difference, also are you lugging the bike around in low rpms?

I'm not lugging at low rpms but I will get a muffler on it and see what happens. Thanks

I agree, get a good muffler on it. Straight pipes are nice and loud but the engine needs to be tuned for it.

Also, check your battery and charging system. A poorly charging battery can play all sorts of hell.

Agreed if the bike was not set up and tuned for straight pipes which most aren't then you are losing back pressure which will make your bike cut out.

Check your battery terminals first. Its the zero-cost thing to do.

- battery terminal/loose ground connection
- bad/contaminated fuel (use stabil, marine grade if you have it)....poor quality fuel
- crimped hose/line beneath the fuel tank
