The usual options are Michelin Pilot Sport, Pirelli Diablo, Metzeler M1, Metzeler M3 and Dunlop (Dont remember the tire name). All have their characteristics... I mostly found them using this forum.
Diablos are costliest
The Pilot Sports are said to be good all rounders...
M3's improve on M1's, and are one of the stickiest (best grip, lower mileage). I bought M3 (to quell my paranoia after my bike slipped going straight)
I've heard mixed feelings about Dunlop... some people swear by them though.

Another issue is getting/installing the tires: I got them from ronayers.com, $100 cheaper than any local dealer, but now I find that changing tires at any shop is more than $100 (not true for all cities). So ask how much people charge to change tires 1> When you buy tires from them 2> When you buy tires from outside and 3> in both 1 and 2, the cost difference if you take the bike in v/s if you take off the wheels and take them in. (Taking off the wheels yourself requires stands)

I'm not sure you need to upgrade the size... sometimes putting bigger tires distorts their shape and changes the handling of the bike making it harder to recover from cornering... there's a thread about that somewhere... so same specs as original tires would work best I believe.

Too bad you werent here back in september, a member(I forgot who, thanks BTW) posted a link to Cyclegear that had a one-day-sale on Pirelli Diablo. I got the front and rear tires shipped to my door for $170.00(Total cost, thats including both tires!)

Anyway, just wanted to rub it in, and say thanks to whoever posted the link

Somewhat lucky, but let's just say it pays to browse this forum on a regular basis. I have grown quite fond of this place in the last month or 2. Donations will soonbe coming

what do you guys think of the power 2CTs? has anyone had experience with them? I need a new rear and I was considering the 2CT although I have the regular power on the front still..

If you guys have a local race bike shop you might check them out too. Chances are they'll make you a good deal and mounting will be cheaper than bringing in tires you bought elsewhere.
