Take a MSF course ASAP. Buy riding gear -- helmet, gloves, boot, jacket, leather or thick denim pants -- and wear the stuff every time. Remember the 600 you got will smoke any of the old 1000's so maybe it isn't the ideal first bike but it is light with great handling abilities. Take it slow and don't kill yourself.

I started on a 600, but I had some experience behind me. Not a good choice for somebody who's NEVER been up on two wheels.

I GOT MY FIRTS BIKE LAST YEAR I DIDN'T TAKE THE SAFETY COURSE I WISH I HAD.
YOU THINK THEY WILL LET ME TAKE IT NOW EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY HAVE MY LICENSE.
I HAVE A 04 f4i I DROPPED HER THE FIRST WEEK I HAD HER TRYING TO TURN IT ON A STEEP DRIVEWAY A LOT OF PEOPLE TELL ME IF I HAD TAKING THE COURSE I WOULD KNONW HOW TO HANDLE THE BIKE BETTER
