Default NEW REAR BREAK LINE..HELP!!

I just got my new SS break line. I figure its just like doing a cars break line,Pump,Bleed,Tight'n bleede, Refill, and repeat until full pressure is back. Am i right in thinking this or am i off some where? Seems like it would be the same but then again ive seen alot of things diffrent in bike setups vs. standard car set ups. Thanks guys.

sorry guys but if you mix dot 3 with dot 4 you get jello and water. you have to completely clean out the system and flush it a couple times to make sure that wont happen if your going to a differnt dot fluid. stick with 4, thats what all the jap bikes take. really old hondas and yami's take dot 3 and harleys now a days take dot5 or dot5s (synthetic) if you mixed them already, flush the system out (bleed continuously) and hope you got all of it. otherwise your brake is gonna feel like crap soon

Not quite... Brake fluid naturally aborbs water over time (its hygroscopic). Vehicle manufacturers recommend that brake fluid be replaced every two (or so) years because of this property. Also, different DOT #s have different boiling point which rise with the DOT#. Read the excerps below:
DOT 3 and DOT 4 are polyglycol-based fluids and can be mixed with each other. DOT 5.1 can also be mixed with DOT 3 and DOT 4, even though it is based on a different chemical and has about half the viscosity. If DOT 5.1 is specified for an ABS system, do not add or use any other fluid type. DOT 5 is silicone-based (not less than 70% by weight of a diorgano polysiloxane) and must not be mixed with or contaminated by DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5.1.More details can be found via the link.http://www.timskelton.com/lightning/...rake_fluid.htm

Use DOT 4 in your brake system. When changing a line you will need a Mity-Vac. It's the best (and only- don't argue this point) way to bleed a dry system.

dot 4 only... your bike is a high performance machine and should be treated as such. i'd hate to see your brake line explode because you hit the fluid's boiling point. follow the manual plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz kk thx

Mighty vac is definately the nicest, easiest way to do it. When I replaced mine, not thinking to use my Might Vac, I filled a clean container with brake fluid and ran a hose from the bleeder in to the clean fluid. Then I would bleed it the "normal" way.
