New member! Smoke puffs every now and then, HELP!

Hey guys,

I just got a 2006 F4i and i have a slight problem with it. Sometimes when I'm riding and I come to a stop i'll get a light puff of white smoke from between my forks and then it will go away. Riders behind me sometimes say I get a light puff of smoke from my bike when im riding every now and then as well. Any idea what this could be? I'm thinking I may have a slow coolant leak somewhere but I don't know what I'm looking at!! Any input is great, thanks in advance!

Is it lower on the front forks? Possibly a caliper sticking and causing too much friction and a pad burning. Do you smell anything when this happens? Also check your rotors and make sure they dont have a blue-ish tint to them indicating dragging brake parts.

It does smell, I know it's not oil. I'll check those things out right away.

Checked my rotors and it's not that. I got a better look at it just now with some light and I see a run of some kinda liquid drop on my headers. When I look at the area just above my headers it seems it be "moist" like something has been leaking. What am I looking at?

could it be oil from your oil filter? if it has a slow leak and oil touches your headers (which are hot) that can produce this smoke. Post a pic up if you are able.

the oil filter should be put on only hand tight, let the bike cool down and see if its a bit loose

Let it cool and put some of that crud on your finger. You should be able to tell if its oil or if its coolant or grease or something else that way. White / blue smoke is normally oil burning.

could it be valve cover seals leaking on up top?

^^that's what I am thinking. What kind of cost am I looking at to replace them?
