new guy, questions..

I had the chance to sit on an 02 f4 i.. I am a short guy and I really liked everything about it... I am going to be looking for a used one in the very near future, and had a few questions.. What years were the best? Also, I'm not crazy about the full seat, and was wondering when they changed to that. What are price ranges of early to mid 2k models?? Thanks in advance...

01-03 if you want the split tail. Otherwise performance is identical in all years and even the '04+ models can be converted to split tail with the rear subframe and components. The main thing to look for is whether it was taken care of and mileage.

if you're looking for an 01-03 then look to spend around $2,800 give or take $500. i wanna say that that's a good number taking into consideration condition and haggling.

You could buy mine for only $7,500 and I'll throw in new grips!

If you're a shorter guy, it's not too hard to lower it either. When I bought mine, it was lowered. I'm a big guy so I put it back to stock, but it looked pretty cool low and handled fine.

As for the banana seat compared to the split seat, if you're planning on doing any trips on your f4i, or you plan on doing a lot of two-up riding, give the 04-06 years a good look as the single seat is much more comfortable for both you and your passenger. You can always get a cover for those days you want the single seat look.
