New Grips

What do you think about this set?: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Drive...#ht_1112wt_939

I remember someone mentioning something, don't remember who it was exactly. Does anyone have a hands on experience with these ones?

And how difficult is it to swap them?

Joey_f4i 01-05-2010 04:26 PM

Oh man, those are nice lookin, I should look into investing in a new pair myself.

Write a quick review of em' if you decide to go that route.

I've already got one thing to make a review of. Need to take some pics and include some words ))

I'm really wondering about the process of swapping. Would I need to disassemble the controles?

I'd like to know how difficult it is as well, those are some nice lookin grips

Those do look very nice. Humm, process to change 'em? Well, w/ these who knows. The all rubber grips are easy to change but w/ these, might be a little harder. Look forward to seeing them on your bike.

Seen shops use everything from brute force to soapy water to wd40 to remove grips.

Honestly, if you aren't planning to use the ones on it now any further...a razor works perfect.

2H company 01-07-2010 12:47 PM

Haha, WD40... If WD40 didn't help, it means that the item can't be fixed and should be just thrown away.

A razor... hmmm a good idea, I won't use the old ones for sure. My main concern is about the way the grips are held. Are they even connected to the controls? or just slipped on?

randyjoy 01-07-2010 04:32 PM

They are just glued on. The clip-ons are the same diameter, throttle sleeve is larger. Look at the picture, and you'll notice that one grip has a larger diameter hole - that's the throttle side.

I use a spray on adhesive (and even used hairspray in a pinch), though you can buy "Grip Glue".
