Default neighbor ran into my bike -_-

Knocked it on its side over the kick stand. Side and rear fairongs are toast, mirror cracked off, and it leaked oil pretty bad.

Here's my question.

Theu are trying to avoid going through the insurance and took my bike to a friend of theirs who owns a shop. Hes saying the oil came out through the breather tube at the top. But when he went to start he said it was hydro locked from oil getting in the cumbustion chambers? Then once it started it wouldn't stop blowing out smoke so he's saying now that the mufflers got satirated with oil and needs new packing.

Honestly I think I'm getting thrown in a loop, sound about right?

Um, a saturated pipe won't blow smoke... Get your bike to the insurance company. You don't owe your neighbor any favors here - only you could get burned.

I guess there was oil in the header too. They cleaned it all out, repacked my mufflers and I got my new fairings put on. Just looking for a front fairing that will be painted flat red like the rear and front tire fender that will be black like the sides. Its running great, just glad I didn't have to go bike hunting right before summer.

Didn't put much prep work into that tail?
Looks like you can see the scratch right through the paint, whoever did that I would bring it back and get them to redo it.

I rattle canned it lol! Its not perminate. I'm having it powder coated along with thw fender amd front fairing when I get it. I just didn't want it white while I'm waiting for the other two pieces.

The pipe sounds amazing. But it's a little beat up. I don't really know anything about it. Good brand?

Don't beleive you can powder coat plastic(may be wrong), but the high temps would maybe warp the fairings and make it imposible to line the holes back up.

krylon fusion brand paint works really good for fairings though. Look at my pics in profile, my black and red f4i was done with krylon "satin black". When it drys it bonds with the plastic making a very durable paint job

That does look nice. Did you clear coat it after? Howd you prep it?

Got an orbital sander form harbor freight and 2 packs of both 80 grit and 220 grit for the sander and a pack of 600 grit wet/dry paper in 12" x 12"sheets.

Sand everything with the 80 to knock off the paint super fast. Go back with the 220 to get rid of the deep scratches it leaves. Then hit it with the 600 dry first to get rid of the 220 grit scratches and then do it again with the fairings wet.

I did not have to use a clear on it, I wanted the flat look to the paint but it still gives a little shine. After you spray it the paint bonds with the plastic and does not come off easily. So make sure you pick a color you like, it can be sanded off in the same way as other paint but it is a pita. Plus side to it bonding is it does not scratch like normal paint. Can be washed like normal and doesn't have the feel of normal rattle can jobs it isn't dry feeling it feels like it has clear on it.

This is krylon on my F4

edit: Also follow the directions for drying of the paint I picked some of mine up to soon and ended up having finger-prints in the paint on some pieces, not very noticeable but I knew they were there and it bugged me. And you can pick up Krylon fusion at wallmart pretty cheap, google Krylon paint job motorcycles -- it will give you an idea of what all the colors will look like on bikes.
