Need a new rear sprocket.

My rear sprocket has a few worn down teeth, so I'm going to replace it this month when I do my rear brakes. Question is, would it pay to upgrade my sprocket with these Supersprox rear sprockets (my cousin has one on his track bike and loves it, but I believe his has quite a few less teeth, his review doesn't pertain to road bikes)? How much would -1 tooth improve low end power, would it even be noticeable or would I be better off keeping the stock amount of teeth (is it + or - that improves low end torque on the rear)? I put on about 5K miles a year highway driving to and from work, I don't need my bike to be a low end monster, but a little more low end couldn't hurt either :icon_wink:

Ugh, I'm sorry but this stuff has been answered so many times. The only new thing you have here is a brand of sprocket I've never heard of. I can't comment on the quality but their lifetime replacement warranty is kinda cool. Though you can get a 520 kit for about $80 cheaper than their lifetime kit if you don't intend on keeping your bike for long enough to make the price worth it.

I know it's been beaten to death, but I couldn't find anything about just removing one tooth on the rear, everything covers the -1 +2 etc, but nobody really talks about removing one... and I was hoping to get some feedback on the brand.

check the thread that I made a couple days ago that is still active in this same section, lots of info there.

You will want to add teeth in the rear sprocket to more pickup. If you subtract teeth it will make the bike feel more sluggish. -1 +2 is like adding 5 teeth to the rear.

Thanks vaa, I think I'm going to go with +2 in the rear and leave the front alone.
