Default Need help with headlights?

"Hey guys this is my first time to ask you all for help and boy do I need it ...
I was riding home from work wednesday night just cruising at about 75 mph when bam ... headlights just disappeared ...
Ohhh and did I mention this was on a dark highway ...
well anyways I have a lot of background in electronics and I can't find any shorts in the headlight circuit and the fuse is good as well are the bulbs ...
just can't find the headlight relay ...
anyone ever heard of this happening on an '01 F4i ?????
please give me some feedback. "

That was an original post back in November of last year and Twitch never said what the fix was. I had the same thing happen tonight and wondered if anyone has had this problem. Fuses are good, bulbs are good, and wiring is not shorted. Does is sound like th headlight relay? Thanks in advance and sorry for this repost but not sure how to do it any other way

Well, I got ahold of twitch the original post. and he told me the problem was in the starter switch housing, I took out the two screws holding it together and there was in fact a loose wire so i re-soldered and i am off again, hope this might help someone else in the future

I just had the same thing happen to my f4i. Spent several hours tracing wires for a short. Found that the wire had come un-soldered (sp) in the starter housing. (Sounds like the exact same problem as twitch had) It's a quick repair once you identify the problem. Anyone know if this is a common problem or are we just the lucky ones?

Thanks!

It's hard to believe that 3 of the same incidents are merely coincident. It's most likely a cold solder joint due to a poor manufacturing process, at least in a car, it would be a recall item. On my 03 civic Si, there was a recall just for the same thing, cold solder joint eventually would fail in the lighting stalk, replace stalk or resolder, honda would cover it. The problem is that these problems are so sparce probably, that not until many years later would they be able to identify that problem back to the manufacturing process... just a few degrees less/more in that joint could have made the difference. Just my $.02 first post.
