I have an 01 F4i, about 9500 miles on it, had it for about a year now, regular maintenance and nothing has gone wrong until 2 days ago. I was riding home from work (roughly 38 mph) in the city, and all the sudden i just lose response to my bike. I had the bike in 2nd gear and the gauges all fell back down to zero but didnt shut off, my running lights stayed on, everything worked but my throttle, no gas was coming at all. So i put it in neutral and pulled over, put it back in first and it all the sudden started working again. Does this sound familiar to anyone????? It hasnt done it since, i think maybe a wiring problem, it was literally like 1-2 minutes of no response then just back to normal. I thought possibly a stator, but the gauges and running lights stayed illuminated, so i have no idea?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check for loose battery connections.

 

Also check the ground for the negative side of the battery. If that's intermittment, so is the entire electrical system.
