Need to change my stator cover
Hey...Just wanted to see if anyone had any helpful hints that's changed their stator cover before.......it's an 04 600f4i....I bought a new gasket and some honda bond to dress it with............Thanks

lol drain ur oil, loosen the bolts, take it off, clean the surface well, use some rvt, put gasket and new cover on and tighten bolts, then refill with oil.... may as well do a filter at the same time ;-)

Besides changing your oil or taking off your seat it dosen't really get much easier then a stator cover.
|
If you dont want to drain your oil...lean the bike over the OTHER direction and support it somehow, ratchet straps to the ceiling or something...This way no oil will come out

im thinking maybe a stack of pillow cusions or a bean bag! How far are we talking here, like a 45 degree angle? |
I changed mine with zero motorcycle engine experience, pretty easy.

If you want a sealer that won't suck to remove later, get a tube of Hondabond or Yamabond 4.

Thanks for the info guys............I researched it but I just wanted to make sure I covered all my bases and there wouldn't be any surprises......God I love this forum .....:)

when you tighten the stator and the stator cover bolts, cross tighten them so it gos on ven like changing a tire and make sure when you tighten them its not too tight or youll break the bolts or the tabs.
