my poor baby
my pride and joy:
plus:
equals:
hit it doing about 65 on a 4 lane main road that heads into town...deer was running from the woods into a little grass patch next to a shopping center...totally random and unexpected. noone can beleive it happened where it did since its a highly driven and pretty urban area. bikes trash..frames dented, tanks dented, front/right/left fairings done,no idea where the headlight and windscreen even is, both rims are toast, undertail ripped out,all levers, guage cluster, fender, radiator demolished,etc,etc,etc...got full coverage along with a $1,000 aftermarket accesorry coverage so thats a huge relief but i know i wont get what i feel its worth. im going to argue to try to get all i can though because i spent way too much time keeping it damn near showroom quality.
as for myself i was wearing shift fuel street shoes, shift kevlar riding jeans, a hoody with joe rocket textile jacket, rocket gloves and a suomy spec 1-r. hit the deer, flipped over into the air, and slid with the bike/deer for a good 200-300ft. got up and walked away with a bruised knee and minor scratches on my back. always was the kid that stayed geared up so it definitly payed off big time. if i was rocking a t, jeans, and skull cap like most riders around, i would have no skin left anywhere.
will i be back? without a doubt. ridings in my blood and after owning a bike all summer and putting 14,000 miles on in 5 months, i dont think id be able to go a season without one. i just turned 19 8 days ago and live home so obviously the parents bugged. they never liked the bike but i pay for it all so they lived with it. my plan is to get a nice sport quad with the insurance money, ride that for the winter since itll be too cold for a bike soon anyway, and then once spring comes around, pick myself up another bike...and most likely a storage space for it too lol.
**** happens, glad i walked away

ny450!!! wow........glad you're ok dude! i hit a deer in May of '08. you're one LUCKY s.o.b.!!! wow, thats all i can seem to say. the bike is completely demolished! its a damn good thing to read through a post after seeing pics like that and see that you were GEARED up, brother. as for the deer......you should have it mounted! i wish (heinsight being 20/20) that i would have had mine mounted w/ my fender in its mouth .
welcome to the motorcycle hunting club. you're now a lifetime member......sorry! me and a friend who also hit a deer try to eat venison on the days that we hit the deer, lol. like a little payback, haha.
as for the parents, mine are the same. they ACT like they like the bike but i know they dont. they just pretend b/c they know the bike is my LIFE. they should be happy w/ the fact that you were geared though......responsible! im going to try to pay for my parents to go in the spring to see me do my 1st track day. let them see WHY i love this 'sport' so much.
the bike looks AWESOME btw (before accident). i have a '01 that i totaled when i hit the deer. it had 34k on it and i got $3k from State Farm for it. i put it down on my '08 600RR.
well, im done rambling. welcome to the hunting club, glad you were geared, the parents will get over it, and happy belated bday!

RE: my poor baby
maybe the camo on the back seat kept the deer from seeing you, jk. its good to know your ok, i agree about the quad though, there just not as fun once you've been on two wheels. look at the bright side, least it was at the end of the riding season. some lady pulled out in front of me at the beginning of this season and i missed the whole thing with a broken arm.

RE: my poor baby
thanks all!
a hunter buddy of mine gladly took the head of the deer...im sure itll be hanging up on his wall within the next few days lmao..
regarding the quad...im only gonna pick something cheap up, nothing crazy. a bunch of my streetbike buddies got quads for the winter to tear up the new mx track that was just built in our town and rock the streets when it snows. i used to race quads in 05 so i have plenty experience with them. i'd get another bike now but i really think it will be smart to give it some time..i wont be able to use it anyway due to weather.my rents will flip if they find out i got another immedietly. i WILL be out there next season though whether i need to keep it in a storage space or not
